Line up for Global Ignite Week – Ignite Liverpool

This years Global Ignite Week (GIW) celebrations here in Liverpool UK, are coming up on the 8th Februray at the Liverpool Art and Design Academy and the line up for this match has just been announced. (sounds a bit like a contest but it isn’t)

Ignite makes everyone a rock star for 5 minutes

Ignite is a global presenting  phenomenon, summed up by the catch phrase –  Enlighten us but make it quick. – And it is quick, 5 minutes per person for their presentation and as they talk sometimes at a racing pace the powerpoint slides are slowly changing, ticking down to the final flame screen which spells the end of there own personal presenting hell or their own personal victory over nerves and doubts. I think it is always a personal victory for everyone who has ever presented – even if some do have to be dragged to the front.

Past videos from Ignite from across the world are available on the Ignite Show website – and there are some real corkers as you would expect from a global gathering such as this. Ignite Liverpool although listed on the Ignite show site has been experiencing some technical difficulties so it is not listed as coming up this week – when asked why not one of the organisers mumbled something disparaging about technology and someone called Brady and walked away.

But not being put off the show – this Tuesday promises to be a good one as there are some wild and wacky presentations due. I’m reminded that Ignite makes everyone a rock star for 5 minutes and some of the Rock Stars at this event are

Joe Mcnultythe theory of everything

John McKerrell – A whistlestop tour of the Open Source world covering software and projects that everyone should know about and may already be using without knowing it!

Maria Barrett – The working class and the Theatre

John O’Shea – The Swan Pedalo project – open sourcing a Swan Pendalo

Joe Mcnulty – the theory of everything

Neil MacDonald – There are many ways you can celebrate the anniversary of a blog – guest posts, looking back at the time gone by, a party with clowns – but Neil Macdonald, aka xxnapoleonsolo, took a different path. It led him and a band of friends, fellow bloggers and Hollywood movers and shakers on a hitherto undiscovered route – around the science fiction pubs of Liverpool!

Siobhan Farmer – “Duncan’s Legacy”

Tori Hywel-Davies – ???

Claire Sutton – The Flu Pandemic – How did the World Health Organisation, national governments and the media report differently as the events unfolded?

Christina McDermott – Food Blogging

Where and When

Tuesday 8th February 6-9pm

Liverpool Art and Design Academy, Duckinfield Street.
