Liverpool Digital Events boo

So the other week I got an email from Audioboo saying that one of my boos had been listened to 1000 times. I thought that was cool so thought I would record another just trying to bring stuff up to date a little and if need be then I will make them a regular feature on the main site as they are so easy to do.

So below is #2 for you to listen to (embed code permitting)

It has to be said since I started producing digital events in Liverpool in 2010 it has become a much more interesting place…. and long may she reign.

This is the link to the boo that has had over 1000 listens now – enjoy – that was in February and I haven’t done another since then but lets see how this one gets on. Maybe it will do OK if I give it some decent tags.

Creating a PDF magazine of your content

I was asked if I knew any ways of converting website content into a readable magazine on an almost daily basis – It’s fair to say that I didn’t but after a few more questions I was able to get to the bottom of what it was that they were looking to construct  – which was a new website that they could take the feeds from and make a proper looking downloadable PDF magazine from. But not knowing how didn’t stop me  from hunting down some useful links and products.

Blogging platforms

– WordPress vs. Typepad
– WINNER: WordPress, 2714 votes (Typepad: 267 votes, Tie: 357 votes)

If you are trying to decide which platform to go for then read this on the mashable site for WordPress v’s Typepad. I did recently have to post something to Typepad and cringe – it was not intuitive – clunky in other words, but i had to do it for Liverpool’s Global ignite week – Have a look. It’s an exciting event but at the same time if you want to find out real information about it then go to the How-why-diy Ning

So always go for wordpress.

Why Sandbox

I wanted to explain why I have started this adittional blog when I have the main site, that i could use.

Well it kind of goes like this. I have used Joomla and I have used wordpress and both are similar but different. I never had any website trouble when I used wordpress as my main site. Using Joomla really opened my eyes to how little i really new about website hosting, maintenance, construction, the list could go on and on.

So this is a place where i can talk about the issue i have had and the ways in which i have overcome problems.

I am going to install the old wordpress Defnet Media site on this server so that I can use it as another example site. It will be great to use as a tool for the workshops.

Just remember the more you learn – the more you realise the little that you do know.

I have now Consolidated my blogs so this post is on here.
