Interactive artwork Noisy Table, an augmented ping-pong table that makes music and sounds as games are played, arrives in FACT on 6th December.

Who better to test it out than some of the city's best-loved bands? Over the next 10 weeks 8 bands will compete to be crowned “Bats & Bleeps Ping-Pong Champion!” in a round robin ping-pong tournament. To launch Noisy Table and get the competition underway,  FACT are incredibly happy to welcome Liverpool legends Clinic for an exclusive DJ set and atmospheric electronica artist Afternaut, who will be performing live.

It is no wonder that this artwork is coming to FACT as Mike Stubbs the artistic director at FACT has a Ping Pong table is his back room at home and never misses a chance to battle it out against any unsuspecting visitor - Pity the Watch Tower seller.

Find out more below

The subsequent matches scheduled are as follows:18th Dec - Organ Freeman v Afternaut
8th Jan - All We Are v Alpha Male Tea Party
22nd Jan - Ninetails v Dogshow
23rd Feb - Grand Final

All the matches will be recorded and sampled into new pieces of music by both Clinic and Afternaut and will premiere at the Grand Final on 23rd February. The audio from each competition match will be recorded and streamed at bidolito.co.uk, creating a series of audio match reports and an evolving document of the tournament. Keep tuned to bidolito.co.uk and fact.co.uk for match reports and information throughout the tournament!

All of us know someone or have some mental health issues on some level. A failing capitalist society makes us very unhealthy indeed. We are in a time of 'hyper attentiveness', always being connected to a screen based world. It is also a time of great efficiency with our technology, a kind of Utopia.

It has taken twelve years to get this exhibition up and running at FACT. Originally it started out as a lecture in Germany in the late 90's at Munich University and now it has evolved into an exhibition first shown, in a reduced capacity,  in Germany in 2000. There is also a 460 page book, only in German currently, with 900 illustrations where 20 experts contextualise the phenomemon and a 25 hour running time DVD Box set.
