uti-threshold1THRESHOLD FESTIVAL BLURB:

In February 2011, Liverpool’s NOVAS Contemporary Urban Centre will play host to a large multi-arts Festival; Under the Influence presents ‘THRESHOLD’.

Definitions of threshold:

noun: the smallest detectable sensation

noun: the starting point for a new state or experience

noun: the sill of a door; a horizontal piece of wood or stone that forms the bottom of a doorway and offer support when passing through a doorway

noun: the entrance (the space in a wall) through which you enter or leave a room or building; the space that a door can close

MORE IMPORTANTLY…: a new exciting festival in Liverpool

Bringing together some of the North West’s hardest working and innovative artists and promoters, this Music and Arts event will inhabit every performance space within the NOVAS CUC for three days;11th, 12th and 13th February.

Under the Influence not only plans to showcase some of the finest professional talent in the North West but also aims to combine community organisations and student volunteers to bring the celebrated arts culture of the region together.

With an extensive music programme spanning across the genres and an array of film, cabaret, spoken word, philosophy, theatre, dance, puppetry and visual arts, we hope to leave no discipline unrepresented. All artists will be performing in two spaces; on in an “obvious space” and the other in a more quirky setting somewhere else in the gigantic building filled with amazing spaces that has been dying to be used in this way!

Each individual venue in the NOVAS CUC will host music and arts from Friday 6pm and for the entire weekend from 12pm up until 12am except on Saturday when the after partycontinues until you’re ready to stop dancing. The venue will have U18 access until 7pm with performances for and from young people.

In addition to the great planned performance programme we will also be hosting a musical instrument amnesty with all donated items going to worthy causes, a vintage, trade and craft fayre, a creative industry convention and professional music panels debating and pondering some of the questions raised by the world of music.

All of this will be available for an unrivaled £5 per day ticket or £10 for the entire weekend (separate entry fee for after party but discount will be available for ticket holders)

We have the space and the freedom and are looking for people who have that need to create. So if you think this is the chance for you to show us what you can do, please contact Under The Influence Festival and join the celebration.
