a.P.A.t.T. Orchestra - Call for Players

The next a.P.A.t.T Orchestra event is due to take place on Sunday 5th June in Sefton Park,  and they are looking for more players for the Orchestra.

You don't have to be able to read Music which I thought might hold loads of people back,  you simply have to be able to follow instructions. Tear paper here bang it on the ground.

Beastie Boys new album - streamed on the net

Hot Sauce Committee Part Two is the Beastie Boys new Album and they are streaming it below. I'm not sure if this is a change in policy for the Beastie Boys to majke there content available for every one to listen to for free but you still have to pay a fortune for the gigs. More and more bands are sop called "giving away" their music and moaking their living from playing Live gigs.

leonpostermediumLiverpool Acoustic will be presenting  folk legend Leon Rosselson in concert on Friday 22nd April 2011 in the Victorian grandeur of Sefton Park Palm House.

Rosselson was a member of the Galliards in the early days of the 1960s folk revival and made numerous radio and TV appearences, with many of his songs featuring on the satirical TV show That Was The Week That Was. He has worked alongside Martin Carthy, Roy Bailey, Frankie Armstrong, Dave Swarbrick, and Robb Johnson, and his songs have been covered by Billy Bragg and the Oyster Band, Roy Bailey, and Eliza Carthy.

RatholeRadio 49 – April 3rd 2011

ratty

The penultimate Rathole Radio before the gig on April 24th in Liverpool. Nerves are starting to rise but the main problem I had this week was the loss of hearing in one ear. I did the show with one ear but wasn’t feeling up to a live track I’m afraid. I was pleased to announce that we’ll be joined next time by fellow podcaster and musician Nick Tann though, listen out for that on April 17th. I also played some great tracks of varying styles for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

RatholeRadio 48 – 22nd Mar 2011

ratty

Rathole Radio is on the loose again and nobody is safe! This time I played my usual eclectic mix of styles and waffled on in a seemingly never ending conversation with myself. I also remembered my guitar this time and played my version of the classic “Many Rivers To Cross” by Jimmy Cliff. What a seminal tune it is. There’s plenty of news about the Rathole Radio gig to dig your teeth into as well. I hope you enjoy the show.

Arts Cuts in the North west

24192_356467452167_630607167_3125803_6313732_nToday Twitter brought down the Arts Council webserver - it didn't, it was simply a power cut in Manchester.

Today the Arts Council destroyed the Arts in England - NO that didn't happen either.  The arts organisations are suffering, along with the staff, the real people who work hard and the artistic programmes but in the long term everyone just gets on with the job of work.

In Liverpool we have seen 11% cuts portrayed as a good result and they maybe when compared against the likes of Urban Strawberry Lunch who run the St. Lukes Church aka the bomby getting cut completely.

RatholeRadio 47 – 6th Mar 2011

rattyTime for another Rathole Radio and this time I played a nice range of music. It encompassed everything from jazz to blues and electro to rock. Most of these tunes came from Jamendo and are also Creative Commons licensed which I encourage. There’s also a live recording of me playing with 20lb Sounds earlier this year.
