Lottie Child will be developing ‘Street Training Manchester’ The artist envisages ‘Street Training’ as a new martial art for being safe and joyful on the city streets, making incremental positive changes in the streets and the people who are practicing there. The Artist will be visiting Manchester prior to the exhibition to research potential for joyful interactions and interventions with the place and people. Workshops will then be set up for the general public, these will explain the context, history, methodology and precepts of Street Training.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view the first stage developments of the Street Training activity and will also be able to participate themselves by picking up a free street training manual!
‘Invisible City: Liverpool top 9!’ by artist Tsui Kuang-yu examines many vaguely defined and strangely designed spaces and facilities from the old urban planning that often becomes neglected in newly renovated cities throughout the world – the film shows the viewer ways that these spaces can playfully be transformed.
Originally Commissioned by Liverpool Biennial 2006
International filmmaker David Valentine (MediaShed) presents a film originally commissioned by Futuresonic festival. The Duellists (ft Methods of Movement) is a free-running meets free-media film in the Manchester Arndale shopping centre when two late night traceurs are caught battling on CCTV. Filmed only using the in-house CCTV network of 160 cameras with a soundtrack created from the environmental noises recorded during production the fascinating results will be screened at CUBE.
Neville Gabie will be exhibiting a series of photographs including newly commissioned works from his ‘Playing Away’ series. The images act as an objective study of the cultural landscapes with a common obsession, football.
Peter Liversidge presents’ The Perfect Match’ – size 9 carpet slippers (courtesy of the artist and Ingleby Gallery). Peter’s work exists in almost every conceivable medium: drawing, performance, installation, photography, painting, sculpture, interventions and books. A central aspect of Liversidge’s practice is the making of proposals; groups of hand typed and posted suggestions which range from the ridiculous to the sublime. These often form the basis of his exhibitions, performances and works.

The Road
Coming up at FACT, Liverpool this weekend.
The Road
, set in post apocalyptic America stars Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron and is an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer winning novel. It's the story of an unnamed man and his son as they walk through the dark wasteland that once was and their struggle for survival against all odds including the odd cannibal or two.
It sounds thoroughly depressing, perfect after a week of heavy snow and bleakness.
