As part of the Writing on the Wall festival who this year celebrate their tenth anniversary and they are promising a special one. In a pre festival warm up gigs 'Rebel Rants' will be focussed on justice, liberty, identity and race, all designed to get you fired up for their launch in May 2010.

Guest speakers are Martin Bell, Michael Mansfield QC, Germaine Greer and Darcus Howe.

Over the past ten years they have had some amazing guests - Noam Chomsky, Benjamin Zephaniah, Helen Walsh, Lindsey Collin, Billy Bragg, Anne Enright, Kevin Sampson, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, James Kelman, Levi Tafari, Dave Jacques, Jimmy McGovern and many, many more, who have kicked into town to entertain and challenge, keep us writing and thinking, and engaged us in debate and discussion about Power, Palestine, Music, Crime, Drugs, War; events for insiders, notes from underground, Yemeni workshops, film production and premieres, and plenty of drinking tales.

The festival this year celebrates ten years of delivering a festival that brings together a diverse, community based audience, with the best local, national and international writers, artists, poets, musicians and film-makers, and just about anyone they felt that had something relevant to say.
